We also both had awful speech impediments, to the point where our parents had trouble understanding us, but we knew exactly what the other one was saying all the time. I’ve had coworkers ask about it (I was traveling to Europe so very jetlagged and therefore, my eye was off doing its own thing, whereas I can often semi pass when completely rested), which was a bit mortifying, but also I know the person was just curious. It’s something I’m very self conscious about, but it didn’t leave me scarred because growing up, people really didn’t tease me about it, and I still had friends. I was never attracting a ton of male attention either, only dated a couple guys before settling down, but I was never made to feel it was because of my eye. I just wanted to leave this here and say others do understand, and I’m so sorry you were treated that way, because it doesn’t have to be that way. I’ve had this conversation, but it was about World of Dragon And Cats Love Life Beautiful Nature Hawaiian Shirt not 40k. As others have said before, hobbies are just that. Hobbies. They can be anything, artistic, analytical, mathematical, historical, cultural, fuck it. Find something fun and do it a lot. My buddies dad growing up did RC airplanes and that really stuck with me, dude had his nerdy little passion project, kept up with his job and did stuff with his kids, he just so happened to have like $50,000 in planes and modeling gear. When I asked his wife she said he could’ve been spending the money on fast cars or alcohol, better he just sit in the garage with his wood glue and the game on.
